Formula One is the 2.4 GHz wireless communication system specially designed for the new generation of hi-end Formula terminals. With a data rate of 1.6 Mbps, Formula One offers a very high communication speed yet at the same time guaranteeing incomparable resistance to interference and strong data security. These important features are possible thanks to the Spread Spectrum Frequency Hopping technique which has already been widely and successfully tested in military environments. Formula One is compatible with OpenAir 2.4, the standard of the WLI Forum (Wireless LAN Interoperability Forum) which has already been implemented by more than 20 leading manufacturers in the mobile computing market. The Formula One Access Card efficiently and economically meets the operational needs of applications where a single radio cell is sufficient to ensure the complete site coverage. When it is necessary to ensure a greater radio coverage, Formula One Access Points are used with direct connections to the corporate network, be this Ethernet or Token Ring, to guarantee the desired radio coverage within a cellular and modular architecture, thanks to the Formula One Seamless Roaming technology. For network administrators, installing and managing the Formula One wireless system is both simple and flexible. The Access Points can be managed and configured equally across Ethernet or Token Ring networks, the wireless network, through serial connection or via modem. Several user interfaces are available to accomplish these tasks, including telnet access, web browser based management and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). The Formula One Wireless Network performances can be fully exploited by using Formula TN Client a complete terminal emulation software package which allows hi-end Formula terminals to be simply and immediately integrated with Midrange and Mainframe systems. Incredibly sturdy yet compact, Formula One Access Points were designed for both commercial and industrial use, even at extreme temperatures and are the ideal complement to the Formula line of hi-end wireless terminals. |
