GENERAL DESCRIPTION

RADAR™ is a unique sales, marketing & technical Software Tool developed by Datalogic to help sales people, product managers & technical managers to easily sell, design and maintain any RF Narrow Band Solution based on the new Datalogic STAR-System™.
RADAR™ is a very professional instrument, easy to use, easy to integrate with sales offer or technical documentation and very useful to design the RF System Layout. It also allows estimating the RF System Performance and managing the project data.
The RADAR™ allows to dramatically reduce the sales time increasing the offer accuracy: within 5 minutes it is possible to send a detailed offer to a potential customer specifying, at the same time with the part list and the prices, the estimated coverage of his building and the expected performance of his system!

MAIN FEATURES OVERVIEW

RADAR™ is a program for Windows 95/98/2000/ME and NT environments.
RADAR™ allows to define a personalised RF system layout, drawing the shape (perimeter and obstacles) of the desired area to be covered. If you have an existing map of the building in electronic format (JPG or BMP) you can import it as a background image (automatically setting the associated grid scale).
It is obviously possible to save the project, specifying a name: this command creates a new directory including the project file, a copy of the layout etc.

Once the perimeter and the obstacle(s) have been defined, it is possible to add and position the STARGATE™ RF base station(s) to cover the working area. The area covered by each base station is divided into two zones having two different colors:

  • the smaller area corresponds to the zone with the estimated indoor/best performance;

  • the bigger area corresponds to the zone with the estimated outdoor/standard performance.

In case of 2 or more RF base station overlapping areas, the common areas are shown with a different color. The common area grants “double” radio signal and can be used to ensure the system to exploit its seamless roaming capability.

The RADAR™ system performance evaluation form allows estimating the overall system behaviour based on the “real” working conditions: it is simply required to set the “Data Transfer” type (Small/Medium/Long), the “Communication Mode” (1 way/2 Way) and to define the “System Configuration” by setting the number of base stations, the number of RF Devices and the number of transactions/hour performed by each RF device.

The evaluated performances are the following:

  • "System Throughput" shows the estimated data transfer level (compared to the system limit);

  • "Duty Cycle" shows the estimated system duty cycle (in some countries the system performance must be within the 10% duty cycle limit);

  • "Reaction Time" shows the estimated average response time for each transaction performed by a RF device.

Once the system layout has been designed and the performance controlled, it is possible to generate the part list related to the project: it is simply required to select the STARGATE™ connection type (Stand alone RS232/Network RS485), the electrical network type for the power supply, the RF device(s) type, model & quantity and the “Cradle Type” to automatically generate the system part list.
Obviously it is possible to save and to print the part list as well as to export it in “HTML” format: then you can integrate these data in your offer or your technical documentation importing them using the most common Office utilities such as Microsoft Word or Excel.

The RADAR™ is supplied with a very useful “self-explaining tutorial” that shows, in only 3 minutes, how to exploit its most interesting software features: we strongly suggest you to use it to learn how to get the best of the RADAR™ in the quickest and simplest way.
