Choice of 2.4-GHz Radio Solutions Only the PSC Falcon 315 gives you a choice of 2.4-GHz frequency-hopping spread- spectrum wireless LAN PC cards and access points, including the Spectrum24 from Symbol Technologies, Inc., and RangeLAN2 from Proxim, Inc. PSC may offer additional radio solutions in the future. Both of the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radios provide long-range mobility, high throughput and network capacity, advanced power management, and seamless roaming among multiple cells. The 2.4-GHz radios are fully certified by the FCC and ETSI and are being approved for use throughout the world, without the need for an end-user license. |

Long-Range Mobility Both the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radios provide an indoor range of up to 500 feet and an outdoor range of up to 1000 feet. Of course, the actual range you will achieve depends on many factors. A site survey should be conducted to determine the number and placement of access points to provide the required coverage. |

High Throughput and Network Capacity Both the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radio options offer high throughput and network capacity. Spectrum24 runs at 1.0 Mbps, and RangeLAN2 runs at 1.6 Mbps. Both radios support multiple, independent, non-interfering virtual channels (hopping patterns), permitting increased total network capacity through the use of multiple access points. |

Advanced Power Management Both the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radio options offer advanced power management, enabling full-shift operation (8+ hours) on a single charge in most applications. With power management enabled, PSC Falcon 315 conserves power by suspending communication while the associated access point saves data for it. At given intervals, PSC Falcon 315 wakes up and checks for messages from the access point. |

Seamless Roaming PSC Falcon 315 enables the mobile user to roam freely throughout a facility while maintaining a continuous, seamless connection to the wired network. This is accomplished using multiple access points, each operating on a unique virtual channel. |

Ethernet Access Points PSC Falcon 315 is available with Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 access points, which provide transparent wireless access to Ethernet-wired networks. PSC Falcon 315 access points are configurable with software over the wired network or via a serial link. Models are available that incorporate an SNMP agent, enabling management from a single point regardless of the location. In addition, SNMP traps notify the network manager when various conditions occur on the access point. All models support advanced diagnostics for isolating problems. Access points are available with a variety of antenna options and mounting brackets. |
